Prashant with children in the Sundarbans while working on "The Labyrinth" project

Prashant was born in January, of the year 1985, in India. After spending the school years while sitting at various front and backbenches, sketching, writing poetry, mimicking his classmates and, making caricatures of his teachers, he studied Bachelor of honors in Geography, at the University of Delhi.

He also earned a Diploma in the Spanish language, from the same university, making it the sixth language he can speak, along with Hindi, English, Urdu, Punjabi & the dialect of Haryanavi. And, with an interest in visual narration, he pursued a course of cinematic at Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematic at Delhi, India.

Later, he studied Master’s degree in Photojournalism at Mid-Sweden University (Mittuniversitetet), Sweden. Now he devotes his time as a Ph.D. researcher at the University of Malaga, Spain, contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary Digital Journalism and Participatory audiences.

Today, he is a photographer, teacher, author, researcher, and publisher. He works with photos, videos, sounds, and text to narrate art and documentary visual stories. Topics of his projects are usually sociopolitical and/or environmental in nature, but every now and then, he expresses abstract emotional and, psychological subjects via artistic photographic language.

And, his knowledge of cultural geography of the world, cinematic sense towards the surroundings, multi-cultural background, multi-lingual brain, and calm but curious personality motivates him to pursue and accomplish these projects.

On the other hand, he also designs photography books for photographers, and photography clubts/associations. His devotion to photography turns this process into a workshop on how to design photography books, because he likes to work in close collaboration with the photographer.

Workshops and seminars conducted worldwide by Prashant, are based on how to understand, read and, speak the language of photography. He always focuses on supporting the participants, in finding their own visual expression, and subject matter. He has given talks and presentations at various places. His most recent seminar was at the Royal Photographic Society, Madrid-Spain.

Exposed (X_POS_D) is a photography card game that Prashant has created/invented. It started with an initiative of organizing regular photography meetings in the city. Now the group is called the Málaga photography club. In the beginning, the idea was to give separate cards of photography tasks of the day, to each participant. But, soon the experience of teaching and, the time provided by lockdown due to COVID-19 resulted in a proper game of 106 cards. The game can be played alone or by up to ten people of any age and, from basic to advanced level of photography.

At the basic level, the game lays down a firm foundation for visual understanding through photography. And, at the advanced level, the game creates challenging assignments to widen up the horizons of photographic creativity for professionals.

His work has been exhibited in several countries such as Sweden, England-UK, Lithuania, India, Spain, and Bhutan. His project about Roma Nomads was exhibited at Vilnius Town-Hall/Vilniaus rotušė by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania.

His interviews appeared in various newspapers and periodicals such as; Kauno žinios (www.kaunozinios.lt), Mano teisės (www.manoteises.lt/), Alpha tv (www.alpha.lt), Diario Sur (https://www.diariosur.es/), LRT Radijos (Lithuanian national radio) And, Royal Photography Society, both online as well as offline.

His book “Monsoon over the Pacific” was displayed at the Photo-book festival in Bradford - England, at Impressions Gallery, And at Art Book Exhibition 2019 by Art Heritage in New Delhi - India.
